Children Can Teach You

As I was in the word, a memory came to me about my granddaughter. This was almost 10 years ago. She was about six years old. It was Thanksgiving day and while the preparations for the day went on for us earlier in the day, I had my laptop computer out on the table where I had my Bible software up on it. The family arrived and it was still sitting out on the table.

My granddaughter had walked over to the table where her mom was sitting in front of the laptop. She asked her mother what was on the computer. She was familiar with the Bible as they were raised in the Lord and it was used at home, but she had never seen it on computer. Her mother explained it was the Bible and explained what the different areas were on the screen. One of those areas was results of a word search I had done.

I was in the kitchen working but could hear the conversation. She then asked her mother if she could put a word in the search. Her mom asked her what word did she want to type in on the search. She said “Obedience”. I was shocked to hear such a big word come out of her mouth. She could not even spell it, so her mom spelled the word slowly while she found each letter on the keyboard and entered it one by one.

To her amazement a list of scriptures came up with the word obedience highlighted and her mom started to read them to her. She read the first one or two scriptures and then it was time to eat.

It amazes me still today how the Lord will use a child in things. This was a word I needed to look at, so took it for a word for me also. It applied to things I was doing online. Even today with this coming back to memory I will once again look up the word for review. Yes the Lord can use your children if you are paying attention.

A Red Letter Christian

I found a site called “A Red Letter Christian” where they are doing a daily online one chapter a day gospel Bible study.  If you have time check out the site and daily keep in the words of Jesus.  Today’s chapter was in John 9 called The Blind Man Healed.  I like to listen and read when doing my daily chapter.  They offer the links to these things so it can all be done online.

These are things we can do to keep us in the words of Jesus.  Maybe we can talk about the chapters as we continue with an online Bible study.  In this chapter we see that it was a blind man from birth.  An interesting thing to me is that people associated sickness or in this case a man being born blind, with sinning.

Did you have any thoughts about the chapter?  Be sure to let us know.

Promises In The Words Of Jesus

Jesus says a lot about His words and they come with promises, the question is, do you receive these promises without having Christ’s words?

We will be judged by them:

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

We will know the truth only if we continue in His word:

John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The Father and Jesus will make their abode with us:

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

We can ask what we will and it will be done unto us:

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Do these promises come with any others words? Do you have these promises without the words of Christ? Do church’s teach His words? Do church’s receive the promises?

These are all questions we need to ponder for sure.

Sheep Gospel Study

This morning I listened to my study, in my computer Bible the word sheep all the sudden was highlighted so I looked it up and found one of the meanings was to “something that walks forward” which I found interesting.  Verses that blessed me in John 10 were 27-30.  Thank you Father.

John 10 and 11

Yesterday I listened to John 8 and 9

Prayer Red Letter Gospel Study

These verses stood out as the many different times Jesus prayed, and John 17 to me was in front of his disciples, but mostly he separated himself alone. Today read the list of the word “pray” in the Gospels for reading today.

Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
